Finding My True Potential –
A Mother’s Quest to Heal Her Son
-Yamina, creator and founder of Storia
>>> What is “The Storia Map?”
>>> How can it help you in your life?
>>> Your inner “Story” is given purpose by your “Core Value.”

The Storia Map is . . . a Coherent and Powerful Method
It is a visualization method that was initially developed in 2005 to guide Arieldavid, my son, in his healing journey. It also compelled me to keep going as needed, even for a lifetime, to assist Arieldavid. Together, we would build a full, healthy, and happy life for both of us while managing his chronic condition.
The Storia Map is . . . a Method Created to Visualize, Empower, and Fulfill Ones’ Highest Potential
Since 2008, at the request of several parents, I began working with children and adults that needed a creative way to connect to their inner power and face their circumstances using a fun and positive approach. Since then, I became a certified Yoga teacher and a certified Yoga as therapy teacher as well as an accredited Journey practitioner. I have studied for over ten years various body-mind-emotion modalities, including Ayurveda, for improving self-awareness and wellbeing of oneself to reach your inner Story through personal growth.
Life Is How You Tell Your Story –
A Way of Life
>>> With the birth of Arieldavid, her son, Yamina’s life Story changed forever.
>>> You can channel what feels like your greatest weakness into your greatest strength.
>>> Storia was designed to assist those with chronic conditions and their caregivers alike.

Hello. My name is Yamina.
Most of us, myself included, often think of our life circumstances as a given, as if what’s in front of us is all that will ever be possible. However, once we see clearly into our heart, we can visualize our story in alignment with our true core Life Values that make us happy.

However, once we see clearly into our heart, we can visualize our story in alignment with our true core Life Values that make us happy. The Storia Map was created out of my deep and unwavering love for my son, Arieldavid. In a spontaneous was I visualized him completely healed, happy, and living a full life. I pieced together all of my intuitive and learned knowledge into a coherent and powerful method that became the Storia Map. As I gained more personal insight, education, and experience, I developed and refined it more thoroughly into a technique others could apply to their life. This creative and holistic approach is for people with chronic conditions and their caregivers as well as people working in helping or healthcare professions.

How Storia Started
From “Mission Impossible” to Creating the Life I Envisioned for My Son
>>> In our darkest moments is when a guiding light may be revealed if we observe the signs.
>>> In Open yourself to the relaxation and rejuvenation options offered for both mental and physical wellbeing through Eastern Philosophy, the practice of Yoga, and meditation.
In most people’s lives, there are moments that take the ground beneath their feet, causing the sensation of free-falling into nothingness. I felt this when I faced the biggest challenge of my life, helping my newborn son, Arieldavid, to against all odds survive heal and with time, live a happy full life. He was born with a life threatening, rare chronic condition named Haddad Syndrome. As he was battling for his life, I felt that the ground beneath my feet was gone, and I was free-falling into darkness and uncertainty.
The God spark within each one of us works as our heart’s flashlight to light up the way beyond the darkness we face.
In my mind’s eye, I saw myself as if in a film. Falling, holding Arieldavid in one hand while in the other, grasping desperately for anything to stop from falling. Once I grabbed a tree branch, I started my way back up to solid ground, seeking a safe-harbor and stable ground to walk upon again.
For over sixteen years, I have helped my son heal against all odds. For the most part, he has overcome the effects of Haddad Syndrome with which he was born. A combination of two rare conditions that affect the automatic breathing ability (Congenital central hypoventilation syndrome, CCHS) and the natural internal movement of the colon (Hirschsprung disease).

At age ten, after many years of needing mechanical ventilation almost all the hours of the day and night, Arieldavid began to breath on his own during the daytime. Though we implemented many helpful treatments since birth, I observed that this big shift towards unaided breathing was thanks to his daily Yoga practice. Every morning since he was five-years-old, together we practiced Yoga and the Puja practice of cleansing Arieldavid’s energy channels. I was introduced to this technique by my Guru, the Yogi Master of Bhrigu Yoga, Dr. Jayant K. Bhadury. I am also thankful to Dr. Bhadury’s wife, Vatsala Bhadury. His twin brother Acharya Hemant Kumar Bhadury, a Vedic Jyotish, and his wife, Mithlesh Kishori Bhadury were also instrumental in aspects of his care and healing.
The implementation of non-traditional therapies and Eastern Traditions would not have occurred without my overarching goal of flooding Arieldavid’s life with positive attitudes of fun, exploration, and empowerment through play. These were the pillars on which I built daily functional goals for my son. I implemented the creative skillset of my background as a children’s exhibition developer and designer. This approach made all the difference in the world because it eliminated, most of the time, the sense of “I must do” and instead replaced it with the more positive outlook of “I want to do and even more so: “what I do makes me happy”.
Since birth, through daily practice and repetitions Arieldavid’s overall condition improved and stabilized. In time, his improved health allowed his interests and outlook to grow outside the limitations previously imposed by the ventilator. For the past four years, since the age of thirteen, , Arieldavid has enjoyed weekly therapeutic horseback riding, bicycling, indoor wall climbing, and walks in nature. For the past few years Arieldavid is able to do the things he loves daily, and I enjoy every moment witnessing a level of participation in life I could only imagine possible for my son. Arieldavid is still facing challenges, some are big and some are small, yet they are only parts of his life not limitations which define his life. What motivates Arieldavid’s forward momentum is his own understanding of his tremendous potential and his drive to live life fully. He loves to overcome his difficulties and exhibits a happiness and gratitude when he succeeds. His inner story is reflected through his Storia Map—a personal road map showing how to bring forth the life his inner story believes is waiting for him. A life full of potential, happiness, laughter, lots of fun and riding horses.

About Yamina
How Her Son’s Birth Reinforced Her Belief System as She Chose to “Cherish Life”
>>> In Yamina was fighting for her son’s life from his birth due to a genetic disorder causing a chronic life threatening condition.
>>> In She accepted the uncertainty of his condition with an unwavering dedication to his care.
>>> In Through various approaches, both Yamina and her son Arieldavid have achieved a joyous life, succeeding beyond all the doctor’s assumptions.
Only two weeks before my son was due, during a regular checkup I was notified that something was wrong with my baby boy. Though the doctor was not totally certain about what was wrong, she recommended a late-term abortion and assured me that the medical committee would approve the procedure. I looked her straight in the eye, and without hesitation said, “I don’t want an abortion. I love my son, and if he needs help, the degree of which you aren’t even certain, I would like you and the medical staff to guide me in assisting him to heal. God gave my son this precious gift called Life, and I know God will help me assist his development and growth.” Even today, I don’t know from where that certainty came. I only know that I felt very blessed to have a child, and would not reject this beautiful gift from God. On the day my son was born, he was rushed to the neonatal intensive care unit and immediately ventilated. His condition was not what the doctor suspected, but since she questioned his chance of survival, the medical staff were ready to assist him with any and all resources to live.
The promise I made my son Arieldavid on the day he was born When I was finally allowed to see him, I witnessed this beautiful baby full of light. I leaned close to my beloved son and whispered in his ear, “Mom is here, and I promise you that you will have an amazing life, no matter what. I will do everything I can to help you to heal and have a wonderful life.” In my mind’s eye, I already envisioned him completely healed with no ventilation, a happy and strong boy. Since the day of his birth, my promise to Arieldavid has pushed me to seek solutions beyond my wildest dreams. Very early on as we walked our path together, I realized that in reality it was I who was growing and developing strength, not only my son. We were experiencing mutual physical, mental and spiritual growth.

My Mission
My mission is to help my son live in a better world. A world that not only preserves life, but also helps to develop, grow, and cherish that life in whatever form it exists.
A world that sees the gift in every life form, and the birthright for each individual to reach their highest potential. A world that understands assisting others is not a burden, but an opportunity for personal growth, making ourselves more compassionate, loving, and creative light-beings.
With this mission as a major goal for my life, I will do all that I can to make our story and Storia Map widely available to people. For those that are struggling with a chronic condition, It can be a tool for growth and provide a means by which to achieve a happy and full life regardless of circumstances.

Childhood Background
My mother and grandparents gifted me with the internal strength and understanding of the importance to care for one’s child.
In my early childhood, growing up after my father gave his life at the Yum Kippur War was not easy. My mother didn’t remarry until I was eight. However, because of my father’s missing presence,
I developed a very close relationship with both my grandparents. My grandmother was a vegetarian, practiced meditation, and loved nature. By example, she showed me how to appreciate the beauty in the morning silence, and observe the details of the nature around us. She was a talented sculptor in the medium of stone. I always thought she possessed magic to carve away pieces of stone in order to design an animal figurine imbued with love. This small, elegant woman was so powerful in her silent moments, and conducted her life with gravitas. My grandfather was very different from her, yet he was also a big influence in shaping my character. He was a self-taught carpenter who loved to create things for his home and family members. This was his main hobby in life. We spent many hours in his carpentry workshop creating together, the start of my unofficial training as a furniture designer. I was truly fascinated by the process of creation, planning your steps to bring a form into reality.
At night, my grandparents would see me to bed. Grandfather would tell me a bedtime story which always began, “Once upon a time, there lived happily in the woods a grandchild with her grandparents. In the morning, the curious child always wanted to explore the world. So her grandfather gave her a magical ring that sensed danger. She would simply imagine what she would prefer to have happening instead of the danger and make a wish while rubbing the magical ring, and ‘poof’ that was what happened.” Then grandfather would turn to me and ask, “So, where did you go and what happened?” I would present all kind of endings, each night different, but each gave a good outcome to the story. Then my grandmother would sit near me until I fall asleep. This was my first “training of thought,” to be creative in problem solving, and always think positively in any situation. Both my grandparents trained me by living what they believed. Little did I know that all this would lead me to approach my son’s healing path as a creative adventure. That way, his healing path would have a good and positive impact on him. Later in my life as I grew up, my mother had a big influence on me as well. She always encouraged me to follow my dreams, even dreams she herself did not necessarily understand. Still, she would say to me, “If there’s a will, there’s a way.”
After completing the mandatory army service, I took my mother’s advise to follow my dreams as I moved to New York City at the age of twenty-three to become a Furniture Designer. I felt I could help shape peace through the creation of objects. I eventually graduated with a BFA with honors from Parson’s School of Design. However, in the beginning I hardly had money for one semester let alone four years of studies, but my mother’s faith that “if there’s a will, there’s a way,” gave me the strength to persevere. In a remarkable turn of events, I was awarded a scholarship towards my school’s tuition from the Jewish Foundation for Education of Women, for which I am forever thankful. I realized then, if you have a vision that is greater than yourself, and is beneficial for others as well, keep that torch alive. Do whatever is necessary to make it happen. The universe, with God’s grace, will come to your aid, every time!
